Derelict community centre up for sale

A derelict youth and community centre in Cheshire has gone up for sale for £125,000.

The centre, in Kingsley, is a former village hall and playing field. About 20 buyers have expressed interest buying the site, the Sentinel reported.

Describing the property, on Holt Lane, Mounsey Chartered Surveyors said: "The property comprises of a range of large open plan rooms with offices and male and female WCs.

"Externally, there is a surfaced car park and open playing fields to the rear. The property may be suitable for alternative uses, subject to gaining the necessary planning permissions."

The sale comes a few years after plans to renovate the centre and adjoining pitch fell through.

Trustee Ivor Lucas said: "We've been losing money and we've even sent flyers around the village about the centre and that didn't work. We already have another village hall in the area. We've had various slimming groups, but none have stayed because it's slightly out of the village."

The building had started out as a youth club before it was turned into a fully fledged youth and community centre, with football teams using the facility.
